Clear about your data

Your browser.
Your local profile.

Sill does not require an account. Here is what the beta saves and when it connects to the network.

Saved on this computer

Passwords and autofill profiles use Electron safeStorage with Windows account encryption. Preferences, bookmarks, browsing history and download history are stored locally. Clearing history does not delete your downloaded files.

Imports stay local

Password CSVs and history files are read locally. History source databases are opened read-only. Plaintext password exports should be deleted after import. No imported browsing history is uploaded by Sill.

Update connections

Sill contacts sillbrowser.com for its release feed at startup and hourly. Protection downloads upstream filter-list updates. Browsing sites makes ordinary network requests to those sites and their services.

Protection choices

Filters hide ads, trackers, cookie notices and selected annoyances. Hiding a cookie notice does not accept consent. Saved domain exceptions persist until removed; temporary exceptions end when Sill closes.

Practical boundaries

The beta has no Sill account, cloud synchronization or remote browsing telemetry. Websites you visit may still collect data. Filter lists cannot prevent every tracker, ad or overlay. Sill has not been independently security audited, and the portable executable is unsigned.

Protect your Windows account and avoid sharing plaintext CSV exports. Copying your profile to another Windows account may make encrypted entries unreadable. Card security codes are optional; do not save them unless you intend to.

Use the Menu to manage saved entries and domain exceptions. Browsing history is limited to the latest 20,000 unique web URLs.

Tab recovery and local backups

The session journal saves tab URLs, titles and order locally, with a previous valid backup. It does not save form contents. Settings, history, downloads and encrypted saved-data files retain local previous-file backups. Password and autofill backups remain encrypted to your Windows account.

Beta updates are checked against the published file size and SHA-256 checksum before Sill offers to open them. Stable installed updating remains gated on signing and release validation.
