Install and update

Download, first launch, profile location and safe updates.

Reviewed for 0.1.0-beta.33 · Updated October 13, 2026

Install the portable beta

  1. Download the Windows x64 ZIP from the official download section.
  2. Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. Do not launch Sill from inside the ZIP.
  3. Open the extracted Sill folder and run Sill.exe. Keep the companion files in the folder.
The current beta is unsigned. Windows may show a reputation warning. Read the illustrated first-launch guide before deciding whether to run it. Keep Windows security protections enabled.

Update to a new beta

  1. Save work in the websites you are using, then close every Sill window.
  2. Back up your profile folder, %APPDATA%\Sill.
  3. Extract the new ZIP into a fresh folder and open its Sill.exe.
  4. Check the version in About. Keep the previous build until the new one works for you.

Platform support

Sill currently publishes a Windows x64 portable beta. Windows 11 has been tested. Windows 10 validation remains pending; macOS and Linux packages are not available. The installer is not the current public download.

Where the profile lives

The profile is stored separately from the portable application. Removing an old application folder does not normally remove the profile. Back up the profile before a beta update; beta changes can affect saved data.
